Combined Cycle Power Plants

Combined cycle power plants can achieve electrical efficiencies up to 60 percent, in comparison to 30 percent that is standard for most simple cycle gas turbine plants. The combined cycle operation employs a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) that captures heat from high temperature exhaust gases to produce steam and generate additional electricity. Materials able to withstand high temperature and high pressure environments are used in the construction of combined cycle power plants.
