Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to -260°F (-162°C), changing it from a gas into a liquid form with a significant reduction (1/600th) in volume enabling safe and efficient shipments for LNG vessels. The liquefaction process involves the removal of certain components such as helium, water, acid gases, and dust. The gas is then cooled to -160° when it becomes a liquid, then can be shipped safely and efficiently.
