Compressor Stations

Compressor stations, located every 40 to 100 miles along a pipeline, enable natural gas to travel through pipelines by compressing the gas to a specified pressure. These high pressure, and sometimes, high-temperature environments require carbon pipe with up to .500 wall thickness and corresponding components such as segmentable fittings, ball valves, and butterfly valves.

Edgen offers a wide range of PVF products for compressor station applications from inventory or made to order. We can provide material inspection, testing, and coordination of complex delivery schedules based on customer-specific requirements.

Gas utilities

Gas distribution is the final step of the transmission process in delivering natural gas to consumers through networks including high capacity interstate and intrastate pipelines and local distribution companies (LDC). Gas distribution systems range in piping requirements from PVC pipe to carbon pipe with corresponding components- segmentable fittings, flanges, and valves. Edgen offers multiple PVF products for gas distribution/utility applications from inventory or made to order. We can provide material inspection, testing, and coordination of complex delivery schedules based on customer-specific requirements.

Gas Gathering

Gas gathering is the process of collecting wet natural gas from wellheads and transporting the gas to plants for processing. Gas gathering systems range in complexity from short distance flow control piping systems to complex systems requiring miles of pipe and valves to control the flow from dozens of wells.

Edgen offers pipe, valves, and fittings needed for gas gathering systems from inventory or made to order. We can provide material inspection, testing, and coordination of complex delivery schedules based on customer-specific requirements.

Liquified

Natural Gas (LNG)

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) , is natural gas that has been cooled to -260°F (-162°C) changing it from a gas into a liquid form with a significant reduction (1/600th) in volume enabling safe and efficient shipments about LNG vessels.

The liquefaction process involves the removal of certain components such as helium, water, acid gases, and dust. The gas is then cooled to -160°, when it becomes a liquid which can then be shipped safely and efficiently.

Edgen involved from the planning stage through the execution stage to assist with understanding material availability, pricing, and lead times. We coordinate specialized fabrication for gas liquefaction, storage, and transportation.

We have the ability to supply process piping that supports the following industries involving gases, chemicals, and liquids:

  • Chemical processing
  • Oil and gas refining
  • Waste water treatment plants
  • Drinking water systems
  • Liquefaction

Natural Gas Storage

Natural gas can be stored underground in depleted natural gas or oil fields, aquifers, or salt caverns. Natural gas can also be liquefied for storage in tanks for an indefinite period of time to meet load variations. Gas is stored during periods of low demand and withdrawn from storage during periods of peak demand. Edgen offers a variety of PVF products for natural gas storage applications from inventory or made to order. We can provide material inspection, testing, and coordination of complex delivery schedules based on customer-specific requirements.

Shale Play

Advances in technology have allowed for the discovery and drilling of abundant natural gas supplies within shale plays across the United States and Canada. These shale plays are often located in remote field locations, far from traditional material supply sources, which presents a challenge to operators requiring access to quick turn materials as wells are drilled and completed. Edgen is a responsive and experienced partner who can support your shale field supply needs with pipe, complementary fittings, flanges, and valves.
